Phil Mickelson gears up for LIV 2024
Phil Mickelson is ready to put an end to the feud between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. Looking at the official statement alone, we are not approaching the final transaction between the PGA tour and the LIV golf investors than a year ago. However, Phil Michelson, the largest star LIV, does not know if an official peaceful contract is needed. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Mikelson was asked if a future game would need a PGA Tour-Liv and he was not qualified. As an example, he used 2024. It wasn’t an option to have a high event,” Mikkelson told Bloomberg. “It wasn’t an option for players to have equity. And it wasn’t an option for players to transcend social media markets, create YouTube channels and have their own social media posts like Bryson [DeChambeau] did. And with Bryson bringing golf and its cool, hip vibe to so many people on YouTube, that wasn’t an option. So none of this is going to happen until LIV happens. All of this is possible because of LIV.

Essentially, the crux of Mickelson’s argument is that all of the benefits of the merger were already realized through the master agreement last year. He even said the PGA Tour and LIV have gotten better because they’ve relaxed, but that’s questionable considering the viewership of both tours.
“The competition that both tours bring raises the level of both tours,” Mickelson said. “So is a merger necessary? Probably not. But it would be nice if there was no hostility.
Regarding this animosity, Mickelson pointed the finger at himself, saying that he, like everyone else, must overcome his own anger over the decades-long pro-golf feud so that the golf world can move forward and prosper.
“I have to let everything go. I have to let go of all the experiences I had in the past that were far from positive,” Mickelson said. “I have to let go of the animosity, and we all do that to improve our game.”

“Everything that occurs quietly with the camera must be smooth, and others need to work there. This is done,” said Michelson. “But as this phase of destruction occurs, the control of the sponsors, the control of the manufacturers, the control of the players, the control that was there weakens. And so now that we’re talking about this potential merger and so on, the sponsors are more interested, it’s not as controversial. Players are beginning to participate in greater numbers and are beginning to see the benefits.
Mickelson’s comments struck a markedly different tone from LIV CEO Greg Norman’s own remarks in the same Bloomberg interview. Norman denounced the “vitriolic and hate” directed at the first group of pros who joined LIV two years ago, calling their treatment “disgusting.”
