Golfer Scottie Scheffler maintains astonishing record after miracle at end of US Open
Charlie Woods’ golf career has been full of ups and downs. The son of the legendary Tiger Woods has had brilliant performances but also bitter disappointments. The weather doesn\’t help either. The younger Woods had hoped to continue his climb to the top this week, but storms prevented him from competing in Alabama.
Woods qualified for his first USGA championship last week after shooting a 7-under 71 at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The feat gave the 15-year-old confidence, especially ahead of his participation in the 15-18 age group at the Future Masters in Dothan, Alabama.
Woods Jr. got off to a tough start at Dothan Country Club, shooting a three-over 73 in the first round and a six-over 76 in the second round. Although a young player’s return can be expected, as happened in Florida, time has played against him.
The suspension of future masters \ ‘
Time complicated actions at the Dothan Country Club to the point that the organizers warned that any delay in the tour of Saturday would lead to the cancellation of the tournament. Finally, that happened. Several participants were able to finish the third round, but the bad situation was forced to withdraw the remaining day and the tournament withdrew. After the first two rounds, Ben Shedd took first place in the 15-18 group at 5-under 135. Brantley Moore and Williams Drew were tied for second at 137-3. Woods was tied up with 12 other players in the 103rd place and gained 149 strokes, nine or more.
Charlie’s difficult future
No one likes comparison, but Charlie Woods’s career has started the opposite of his father. Woods Sr. began his career at age 14 and by age 15 had already won his first tournament, the U.S. Junior Amateur at Bay Hill. Tiger eventually became the first player to win the tournament three years in a row. On the contrary, Charlie’s career has been full of ups and downs. In addition to his second place in Coral Springs, the young Woods finished second on the Medalist Tour at Martin Downs in late March. But those two strong performances were overshadowed by his failure at Dothan and his 40th-place finish at the 2022 Nicklaus Junior Championship.
Charlie Woods’ career is just beginning, and he’s expected to have a steep learning curve. Comparisons to his famous father don’t help either, but if young Woods can overcome those obstacles, he could have a remarkable career in the sport.
