Boston needs to add a starting pitcher and is eyeing a blockbuster contract.
It looks like the Boston Red Sox could make another trade this offseason.
Boston has already removed outfielder Alex Verdugo and pitcher Chris Sale from the trade market. The Red Sox don’t appear to be done yet and will need to add another pitcher in the front field this offseason.
It’s unclear what they will do, but according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Boston is interested in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox to acquire Dylan. The White Sox are weighing a truce offer, he said, and the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are among those who have expressed “genuine” interest. Rosenthal. . “But other teams are serious. The exact list of candidates is unknown, but the (Los Angeles Dodgers), (St. Louis Cardinals) and (Boston Red Sox) are among the teams that could be in the mix…
“The Red Sox, like the Dodgers, have a top-five system and are looking for a starting pitcher at the top of their rotation.”
A strikeout would be a huge boost for the Red Sox. Boston’s farm system is strong and the club can make deals if they want to. That will depend on whether the Red Sox are willing to part with Marcelo Meyer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Thiel. The 28-year-old star is under contract for the next two seasons and would give the Red Sox the prospect they need right away. Boston is clearly in the running for a young pitcher, but the country at least seems interested in a move.
