Damning Bryson DeChambeau admission is clearest LIV Golf sign to PGA Tour yet

Bryson DeChambeau’s cursed entrance is the clearest sign of LIV Golf’s presence on the PGA Tour

Bryson DeChambeau has received widespread praise following his performance at the PGA Championship, but one of his opponents believes the LIV golf star is lacking on the PGA Tour.

Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington believes the PGA Tour is missing one of the biggest names in LIV golf, Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau had a strong showing at last week’s PGA Championship, finishing second, one stroke behind eventual champion Xander Schauffele. Always an entertainer, the LIV star put on a show with a stunning 7-under 64 in the final round last Sunday en route to second place.

The 30-year-old hasn’t played on the PGA Tour for almost two years following his ban from LIV Golf, but it was a timely reminder of what he’s capable of at the top of the professional ranks. After watching DeChambeau play at the University of Kentucky, Harrington, a former PGA champion, received an important notice regarding the LIV participant’s absence. “When it came to LIV, several people were leaving and he said, ‘I don’t care,'” he told Golf Channel. “A lot of my friends went to LIV too, and some of them have left. But last week I realized, God, I miss Bryson. For example, Bryson was at the box office last week and really, really helped this tournament and helped Alex win. it was delicious. Interesting, exciting watching, you know? So, yeah, we do miss. We miss these guys. It’s hard to believe we miss Patrick Reed, but we do.”

After announcing a shock framework agreement last June, the PGA Tour remains in talks with the Saudi Public Investment Fund over a peace deal with LIV. Initially, the deadline for the rival companies to sign the agreement was set as December 31st, but that goal, of course, was not achieved until the end of 2023. Harrington hopes the deal will reunite some of the world’s best players. “Finally, if you’re looking for a perfect solution, I have at least two laps and I have an intersection, as we did on the same day.”

“Everyone has a small chip on the shoulder. Many players can go back and forth, and there are some invitations. Competition in sports is good and always helps. But we need a solution, I’ll just say this. Every day for the past two years I’ve brought my opinion and what I’ve found is that opinions are always moving and changing because the scene is changing – everyone in the golf world. I think you want to find a solution. ”

Questions about the future of the contract have grown in recent weeks after tour directors Jimmy Dunn and Mark Flaherty resigned. However, player-coach Jordan Spieth offered some positive news at this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. “I think the narratives that things are bad and moving slowly and, you know, some of the things that people ask me or say are not true,” he said. “Actually, I know it’s a lie. In fact, things are developing positively on both sides. I think we’re finally going to get to a place where professional golf is probably the best it’s ever been.
