There is no immediate money or short term win for the Cleveland Browns this week. That’s why coach Kevin Stefanski plans to field as many players as possible for Sunday’s regular-season finale in Cincinnati. Jeff Driskel, who wasn’t even on the team when the Browns practiced for the playoffs in Week 17, will start at quarterback.
Even Stefanski doesn’t know the exact number of players who will be on the field, which is one of the reasons why he is not sharing the list of players who will play on Sunday. Stefanski had to return with the team by bus to the airport at 4:30 p.m. ET is what he considers his lucky day.
The Browns know they will face the AFC South champions in the wild-card round on Jan. 1. 13, 14 or 15. They play Jacksonville, Indianapolis or Houston. They have already beaten all three teams and know they have to beat all three to make the playoffs this weekend. If the Jaguars win at Tennessee on Sunday, they will win the division. If the Jaguars lose, the Browns will face the winner of Saturday night’s Texas-Colts game. With a wild card game next Saturday, the Browns will be as fresh and ready to practice all week.
