YOU’VE GOT TO EMBRACE IT” – ROB CROSS OVERJOYED WITH US DARTS MASTERS SUCCESS

managed to win a World Series tournament for the fourth time in his career on the night from Saturday to Sunday. ‘Voltage’ defeated Gerwyn Price 8-7 in the final of the US Darts Masters at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.

In the final, Price took an immediate 2-0 lead, but a 12-darter and a 17-darter put Cross back to 2-2. After Price threw out 65 for a 3-2 lead, six breaks fell in quick succession. It made the score 6-5 in favour of ‘The Iceman’ after eleven legs. Cross provided the equalizer again in the twelfth leg by throwing a 17-darter in his own leg, before Price also notched a 17-darter, leaving him needing just one more leg for the title. Cross threw a 56 finish in the fourteenth leg to force a final leg. Price was allowed to start the final leg, but the Welshman did not even get a matchdart in six visits. Then it was Cross who struck with a 56 finish to secure his first televised title of the season.

“It has been crazy out here” – Luke Littler enjoys time in New York but can’t leave with US Darts Masters title

”This means a lot to me,” Cross reflected following his victory in conversation with the PDC. “I felt a little bit spent at the end and I thought Gezzy had me beaten, but I’m really glad to get over the line.”

It was the third time Price and Cross faced each other in the final of a televised tournament. The Englishman won over Price in the final of the 2019 European Darts Championship, while the Welshman proved stronger at the World Series Finals a year later. “Gezzy is probably my best mate on tour. He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, but for me to win any title with the likes of Luke Littler around, you’ve got to embrace it,” Cross concludes. “I’m working really hard and I feel better than ever. I think I was a little bit fortunate tonight, but I’ve loved this weekend, it’s been absolutely amazing.”
