Jake Paul risks ‘biggest payday of career’ by facing Mike Perry before Mike Tyson

He knows fighting just months before stepping into the ring could be costly. Paul (9-1) will face former UFC fighter-turned-boxer Perry (0-1) in an eight-round heavyweight boxing bout on July 20 in Tampa, Fla. The event will be broadcast on pay-per-view on DAZN. The “Problem Child” was scheduled to face Tyson in a bout broadcast live on Netflix on that day, but the bout was postponed to November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after the boxing legend withdrew. “Why Mike Perry?” Why now? Why not wait? What about Mike Tyson? “Yes, I am still fighting Mike Tyson on November 15th,” Paul said in a blog post. “Nevertheless, Mike Tyson is one of the worst people on this planet, he has much more experience than my experience, and he is a killer, and another famous murderer. Do you not gain more experience with Mike Perry, a man who can’t be excluded, a cruel, battle legend. “This man is a crazy madman. He is naked and undefeated. This is probably the most crazy sport in the world. Obviously, this fight has been brewing for many years. … This fight has some great press conference moments and I think some really interesting things could come from there, but it’s a serious risk. Losing to Mike Perry would literally cost me the biggest moment of my career, the biggest paycheck of my career. But for some reason, I like putting myself in this position.

Paul, who won by first-round knockouts against Andre August in December and Ryan Borland in March, predicted Perry’s arrival. “Platinum” has been knocked out in his only pro boxing bout, but only once in 22 pro MMA bouts.

“My official prediction is the fight will end in three rounds or less,” Paul said. “Call him now. These guys cannot hang around with me, no one could see my skills in the past year. With my new coach, my progress has been amazing and I am really excited for the match on July

20th.
