Rory McIlroy has reportedly hired a private investigator to serve divorce papers on Erica Stoll. The revelation came in a Belfast Telegraph report published over the weekend when McIlroy took a week’s break from professional golf during a busy major season.
According to flight tracker Radaratlas2, McIlroy’s private jet was in Italy and the golfer may have been attending a wedding, but this has yet to be confirmed. McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife of seven years on May 13, 24 hours after winning his 26th PGA Tour title at the Wells Fargo Championship.
The lawsuit was filed in Palm Beach County Court by lawyer Thomas Sasser, who represented Tiger Woods in his divorce from Elin Nordegren after his infidelity was revealed.
Court docs also show Carl Woods served Erica with the summons.
Woods has been a cop since 1987, is a certified homicide investigator and a licensed private investigator. “According to Woods’ filing, he received divorce papers from Susser at 9:58 a.m. on May 13 and served them personally at Stoll’s home at the McIlroys’ luxury The Bears Resort and Jack Nicklaus Club at 10:30 a.m.”
“He described Stoll as a blonde, thin man in his 30s, between 5’7″ and 5’8” tall, not wearing glasses. “The appeal at the table warned that there were 20 days to submit a written answer to her husband’s petition to her husband’s petition.”

In addition, the document states: “The phone does not protect you. If you want your court to hear your side, including the lawsuit number and the names of the parties, you must leave it.
“If you do not file your response on time, you may lose the case, and your wages, money and property may thereafter be taken without further warning from the court.
“There are other legal requirements. You may want to call a lawyer right away. If you don’t know a lawyer, call a legal referral service or legal aid office (listed in the telephone directory).”
