Tim Goss, the FIA’s sole technical director, has resigned, marking his third notable departure in the past month.

Goss’ resignation marks a major change for the organization following the recent resignations of sporting director Steve Nielsen and FIA Women’s Committee president Deborah Mayer. The FIA replaced Nielsen with Tim Mallion as safety director from 2021.

Goss’ departure leaves a significant vacancy in the CTO role, and the organization has yet to announce a successor. “It’s disappointing to lose someone like Tim from the organisation,” Nicolas Tombazis told BBC Sport.

Tim played a key role in our technical department and always delivered high standards of work. “We understand that his career will take new directions in the future and we support and respect his desire to take a different path.”

In an FIA statement, Goss said the FIA was “firmly on track” to introduce rule changes in 2026.

“I believe the organization has a strong base of technical expertise for the challenges ahead, particularly the introduction of regulations by 2026,” he said.
