Phil Parkinson could be forced into a tough Wrexham selection call in the very near future.

Wrexham face Leyton Orient in a League One clash on Saturday, September 28th, at 3pm BST.

Ahead of the game, Phil Parkinson has a number of tough calls to make when it comes to his starting line-up.

Dan Scarr has grown frustrated at his lack of Wrexham playing time and Parkinson will surely need to find a way to start playing the former Plymouth Argyle man on a more regular basis.

Scarr is a former League One winner and shone in the Championship last season, making his continued absence from the eleven somewhat odd.

Elsewhere at the back, another summer addition is struggling to break into the team, with Ryan Barnett keeping Sebastian Revan out despite the latter excelling in a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers last month.

The Wrexham bosses’ biggest selection headache, however, is in the club’s striker department.

However, the latter was injured over the summer and missed the start of the 2024/25 campaign, forcing Parkinson to deploy Jack Marriott up top.

Marriott has been in impressive form this season, finding the net on four occasions in his first six League One starts of the season.

The 30-year-old was then dropped for Mullin this past weekend when Wrexham beat Crawley Town 2-1.

However, with Marriott clearly deserving of a starting berth, Parkinson should rip up his Wrexham tactical blueprint and start both Mullin and Marriott together.

This could be a game-change for Wrexham but does also mean Palmer will have to drop out of the eleven.

Palmer joined Wrexham in January 2022 from AFC Wimbledon and played a crucial role in the club winning back-to-back promotions.

The striker has started the current campaign in decent form as well, scoring two and assisting one in the league.

Palmer has previously been dubbed ‘brilliant’ for a goal he scored toward the end of last season.

And while he has done little wrong so far this campaign, he is now 32 years of age and in the final year of his Wrexham contract.

This means Parkinson needs to start planning for life after the striker, which could mean giving more minutes to Wrexham’s record signing Modou Faal, who has played just once in

Aside from Faal, Parkinson simply has to reward Marriott for his prolific start, and as Mullin is the club’s all-time top scorer, it is Palmer who will face the axe despite doing little to deserve it.
