Valtteri Bottas has admitted that Alfa Romeo, now known as the Stake F1 team, needs to improve its response time when updating circuits.

Bottas joined the Sauber-led team after leaving Mercedes in 2022, with the Finnish team finishing sixth and ninth in the constructors’ championship since his arrival. Car development has proven to be one of the team’s key battles, and Bottas is ready to kick things off for the 2024 season.

Specifically, the Finns found an advantage in Sauber’s wind tunnel and wanted to reduce the time needed to get into the car. “For us now, how we approach upgrades is an important area to address,” he told Motorsport.com.

“Right now we’re finding something in the wind tunnel. Car… Compared to other things, it can be said that it is an enormous task.

“Mechanically, there are some balance aspects, but the aero aspect also needs work…\” he added.

“Some of the cars are a bit old,” said Bottas. “But I think the team is well prepared now not to fall behind in that, but I have noticed a difference. “Surprisingly, the wind tunnel is very beautiful. Number of furnaces for tempering carbon, etc. Plus labor: There are far fewer people placing.
