Max Verstappen refutes Red Bull F1 claim after accusation from Sergio Perez’s father

Red Bull has long been accused of designing its F1 cars to suit Max Verstappen and his preferred driving style, which has left his teammates struggling to adapt to the cars.

Max Verstappen has dismissed suggestions he needs to adapt his driving style to his Red Bull cars.
There have been offers over the years for the team to customize the car to suit Verstappen’s driving style. This particular theory is supported by some of his Formula 1 teammates who feel they are at a disadvantage compared to the Dutchman.

Sergio Perez is his current partner and has fared much better in each of the three seasons so far. Last year, the Mexican’s father continued to claim that Verstappen received special treatment.

“This car has grip at the front and the Checo always has grip at the back, so it’s ready for Max,” Perez Snr said. “The Czech’s position is the one he was hired for, which is second place.

“You have to understand that there is only one champion. You have to work for it and respect it. It’s all about Max being a champion and that needs to be understood and respected. “If I were to move to another team, I’d probably finish 4th or 6th,” he said.

However, Verstappen was adamant that he did not have such a different driving style, despite comments to the contrary. In an interview with Motorsport.com, the three-time world champion said that he too needs to change his approach to track work. He said: “People ask me, ‘What’s your driving style?’ I can’t tell you because when you ask, it’s about your ability to adapt to certain situations or what you like about the car. That’s what I want. I want to hug you more. There are many things you wish for, but some things are not true. So I adapt to the car I get.
