Nike move on from Tiger Woods and join forces with Brooks Koepka’s LIV Golf team
Nike lost one of the biggest names in golf after ending its contract with Tiger Woods earlier this week, but the brand was quick to step in and partner with LIV Golf.
Nike has joined Brooks Koepka and his LIV Golf team, Smash GC, just days after parting ways with their most popular player, Tiger Woods.
After 27 years, golf’s most iconic collaboration ended Monday after Woods ended his relationship with Nike. Woods, the greatest golfer of all time, has become synonymous with the iconic Swoosh, which the brand has sponsored since 2019.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner confirmed his contract with Nike. “Twenty-seven years ago, I was lucky enough to work with one of the most iconic brands in the world. He continued: “The days that followed were filled with so many amazing moments and memories that I would cherish forever if I could name them. The passion and vision of [former Nike CEO] Phil Knight brought the collaboration between Nike and Nike together. Golf.” he said. I would like to thank the Nike staff and the amazing athletes who have worked with me along the way. “People are asking if there will be another chapter. Yes, there will definitely be another chapter. See you in LA! tiger.’ But just days after Woods’ loss, the sports brand is back in business and has moved to LIV Golf to partner with Koepka.
On Thursday, LIV’s official social media platforms captured the attention of the golf world when they unveiled a special Nike golf shoe featuring the Smash GC logo. Koepka has long been a Nike golf ambassador and has continued with the brand since joining the Breakaway League in 2022.
