Stella talks about her ‘honest’ approach to the McLaren F1

McLaren’s Andrea Stella has described his open approach to fans and the media in his first year as Formula 1 team boss.

Stella will succeed Andreas Seidl at Audi in early 2023 and has been praised for implementing an improved technical structure at Woking, while also taking the team in a different direction and demonstrating the team’s openness to the public and media. As it became clear that McLaren had completely missed their launch target for 2023, Stella explained where the team went wrong and what their plans are to get the season back on track.
When asked by Motorsport.com if his unflinching honesty was a conscious strategy, Stella replied: “I have a very simple strategy. Call a spade a spade. It’s very simple. It puts you in a permanent position. “If you try to create a story that doesn’t reflect reality, you can get away with it in no time, but that’s not building a foundation. If you want to build a foundation, you just have to stick to it. you know, stick to what we think is right. “Finally, I can’t share this because I don’t want to give it to my competitors, because it’s sensitive, or because I’m just nervous and I don’t want to comment.”
