F1 driver influence reduced by 10% – Merzario
In Formula 1, the influence of the driver is 10%.
That’s the shout out to former Formula 1 driver Arturo Merzario, famous for his Marlboro cowboy hat and the man who kicked Niki Lauda out of his burning Ferrari in 1976. The Italian, now 80, was asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport to nominate drivers for his personal F1 ‘dream team’.
“With today’s electronics and technology, the differences between drivers are very small,” Merzario said. “At Nuvolari, the drivers represented 70% of the final result, gradually it disappeared. Mine was 50 percent. Now we’re not hurting anyone
