Baseball Prospectus recently released its long-awaited list of the top 101 baseball prospects, and the Boston Red Sox looked impressive with four prospects in the top 60. First up is dynamic 19-year-old quarterback Roman Anthony, ranked No. 8 on the prestigious list. Anthony’s stock soared last season as he displayed the perfect combination of power, speed and discipline on three levels of development. The 2022 second-round draft pick worked his way through the Red Sox system at Double-A Portland. In just 10 games with Portland, Anthony posted an impressive 1.020 OPS. MLB.com ranked Anthony as Boston’s second-best overall prospect.

Next up is 21-year-old Marcelo Mayer, ranked No. 32 on Baseball Prospectus’ Top 101 list. Meyer, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft, has put together an impressive professional resume, hitting .261/.351/.460 over three seasons. Despite having the previous season cut short by a shoulder injury, Meyer has been diligent in his rehabilitation at Port. Myers this season. MLB.com ranked Meyer as Boston’s No. 1 prospect.

Catcher Kyle Thiel, a potential first baseman in the 2023 draft, appears as the No. 47 prospect on the list. Despite just one pro season and 26 games, Thiel has made quite the impact, posting an impressive .363/.483/.495 slash line. Needless to say, Thiel’s offensive ability is complemented by his prowess behind the plate, where he had a 29% stolen base rate last season. With these promising skills, Thiel could be headed to the majors in 2024. MLB.com ranks Teel as Boston’s No. 4 prospect. Rounding out the Red Sox’ quartet of prospects is 23-year-old outfielder Seddanna Rafaleia. Rapaleia was called up to the major leagues late last season and put up solid numbers, posting a .241/.381/.386 slash line in 89 plate appearances. Known around the world for his elite defensive skills, Rafaleia was named the Boston Minor League Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. MLB.com ranked Raffaella as Boston’s third-best prospect. As the Red Sox organization looks to the promising future of Boston’s baseball landscape, they can look forward to the exciting potential these prospects bring.
