Simone Bales’ husband, NFL star and Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, admitted he had no idea how the two first met and that she was a celebrity.

Biles, who won four gold medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and is considered one of the best gymnasts in the world, began dating Owens in 2020 and married two years later. The couple tied the knot in Mexico this year after meeting through popular dating app Raya.
Owens, who went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft but later signed with the Houston Texans after being waived by the Arizona Cardinals, joined the Packers earlier this year. Owens, 28, now the starting safety for the NFC North team, explained how he and the Bills first crossed paths three years ago.

Owens said she was unaware of Biles’ fame when she discovered him on a dating app. Owens said on Instagram that the conversation started with Biles, who has won 23 gold medals at the World Championships.
“So I’ve been using the app for a couple of days, and when it came up, I was like, ‘Let’s see who that person is,'” Owens said on The Pivot podcast. . “I was never really into gymnastics, but this caught my attention.
“I hit him up and he said we matched. So we’ll see what happens. After I work out, I come back and get some likes on Instagram. I kept waiting and then I went back to my phone and it sent me a message like “Hello” through the app.

Owens remembers thinking at the time: “I didn’t know who it was at the time. But the first thing I noticed was that the guy had quite a following. So I thought to myself, “Okay, he must be good.”

Owens recalled the 2016 Olympics in Brazil when Biles became world famous.
“When he (Beals) won the Olympics, I was in college, there was no NBC, there was no Olympic Channel, and I was at camp,” Owens said. “So I’m not interested in [the Olympics]. I’ll never have time to watch it.”
