Senior Bowl names Titans’ Williams, Jets’ Ulbrich as head coaches for game
Mobile, Alabama. (AP) – Tennessee Titans defensive line coach Terrell Williams and New York Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will serve as head coaches for the Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl, a weeklong audition for NFL prospects, announced its coaching staff for the Feb. 3 game on Thursday. Team USA is coached by Titans assistant coach Williams. Ulbrich will coach the national team. The Titans have the 7th overall pick in the draft and the Jets have the 10th pick.
Dallas coordinator Dan Quinn is interviewing for his fifth Titans coaching job.
This is the second year the Senior Bowl has used coordinators and assistant coaches in senior or other roles. Williams and Ulbrich were selected from a pool of candidates submitted by coaches and general managers of playoff and wild card teams.
They were selected by the league secretary and representatives of the General Manager’s Advisory Committee. At least one coach was selected from all 18 teams that submitted nominations to the Senior Bowl.
Team USA’s staff includes New England Patriots receivers coach Troy Brown (offensive coordinator), Cleveland Browns defensive backs coach Ephraim Banda (defensive coordinator) and New York Giants assistant special teams coach Mike Adams (special teams coordinator). The Nationals’ offense is led by New York Giants manager Shea Tierney. Minnesota Vikings passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Daronte James will coach the defense and New Orleans Saints special teams assistant Phil Galiano will be the special teams coordinator.
