Syracuse men’s basketball: Three takeaways from Orange’s 69-58 win over Pitt

I think New York State has an advantage over Pittsburgh.

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team survived the Pitt of Doom with its first win of the season… in the end!

The Dutchmen took a decisive lead late in the first half and successfully repelled all comeback attempts in a 69-58 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers. After five first downs, Syracuse earned a valuable first-quarter win at Pitt and avenged its biggest loss in the ACC. Here are three takeaways from Tuesday night’s game.

In typical fashion compared to most of this season, Syracuse avoided both a slow start and a desperate comeback in its win against Pitt. Last time, the Panthers stole all the momentum to take the lead in the final four minutes of the first half, and Syracuse really had to dig in and come out.
