Wrexham’s next game in on Monday against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in the fourth round and although O’Connor will be out for a few weeks, Parkinson will assess the other players.

“Fletch has had a scan,” said Parkinson. “It is not serious but he is going to be touch and go for the Blackburn game.

“Fordey has had a back problem which he has been playing with and managing but it flared up when we trained on the 4G pitch last week because of the weather.

“He had an epidural injection on Monday so we will just see how that settles down.

“Tom is still the same, he is walking around and got a protective boot on at the moment.

“Andy is following the concussion profile this week and Jordan is making good progress.”

Will Boyle, who came into the side in place of O’Connor at Newport, was shown a straight red card  following a dangerous tackle in the 18th minute and will now serve a three-match ban.
