‘Nothing I want more’ – Rob McElhenney keen to follow in Alan Shearer’s footsteps and hit the road with Wrexham fans

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has hinted that he and Ryan Reynolds might visit the away end with Wrexham fans some day.

After Alan Shearer visited the away end at the Craven Cottage with Newcastle United fans during the Magpies’ 2-0 win over Fulham, a Wrexham fan tagged McElhenney, Reynolds and Wrexham CEO, Humphrey Ker on a post o X and asked the three to join the Red Dragons’ fans during an away day for them. McElhenney responded to the post and said that there is “nothing I want more”.

In his post response on X, the Hollywood star said: “There is nothing I want more than to experience a game in that end. I think about it all the time.”

Since the super takeover by the two Hollywood stars in 2020, the Welsh side has seen a massive boost in viewership of the club’s games and a boost in sponsorship. They achieved automatic promotion last season from the National League after a record-breaking season. This season, they sit second in the league five points behind Stockport County, the two sides will likely go deep into the season to try and achieve automatic promotion to League One.

The Red Dragons will be looking to do one better this season in the FA Cup after their fourth-round elimination last season. They will take on Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round of the FA Cup tomorrow, January 29.
