Steelers Pro Bowl RB Plans NFL Comeback; Joining Ravens?

The Ravens will be looking for a running back in 2024. Gus Edwards could very well move on in free agency, and Baltimore will need to add some warm bodies to the room. Is a former Steeler in their future? The last time former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell played a down in the NFL was in 2021.
And he now says he’s focused on a comeback in 2024

Bell took to social media to announce his intended comeback, and he indicated there’s just “one team” he wants to play for. “I won’t start training until like March,” Bell said, via SI.com. “And I’m gonna be honest with myself, I got to go out there and be like, I’m going to put my foot in the ground. Do I feel it? Am I hurting? Can I go out there and really play again? “And bro, I’m telling you all right now when I go out there and train in March and if I hit April and I make this decision to come back to play in the NFL again, mark my words down — I will be better than I ever was. And I will only come back for that one team. You all know who it is.

I don’t have to say no team. You all know who it is.” Which team is he talking about? The Michigan State Spartan played for five teams while in the NFL including the Ravens for a short stint in 2021. He also did time with the Jets, Chiefs, and Buccaneers after being taken in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers, with whom he spent five seasons before sitting out 2018 due to a contract dispute. He’s almost certainly talking about Pittsburgh, where he spent the majority of his career. Bell had more than 2,200 scrimmage yards in his second season with the Steelers while also earning All-Pro honors that year. Bell sat out all of 2018 due to a contract dispute then became a free agent the following season and signed a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the Jets.

He was cut during the 2020 season and finished that year with the Chiefs before splitting time between the Ravens and Bucs in 2021. He’ll be 32 long before the season starts on Feb. 18, and that’s geriatric by NFL standards for a running back. Especially one that hasn’t had a good season in over half a decade.

Would the Ravens be interested? Probably not, unless he’s just a camp invite for them to evaluate. Would the Steelers allow him to return? That depends on how far that bridge has been burned by Bell.
