Wrexham trio singled out after “huge win” reignites Ryan Reynolds’ promotion dream

WREXHAM 1-0 NOTTS COUNTY: The Welsh sider earned an important win over their rivals from last season as a second consecutive promotion dream remains alive

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney can still dare to dream of a second consecutive promotion after their team claimed a “huge win” at home against Notts County.

Their season was at risk of falling apart after three straight defeats before they stopped the rot with a much-needed away victory against Sutton United in midweek. They followed that up by beating last year’s National League promotion rivals with Steven Fletcher’s first-half winner making the difference.

After the game, manager Phil Parkinson was full of praise for former Premier League striker Fletcher and strike partner Mullin for leading from the front. He singled out both frontmen as well as right-back Ryan Barnett, who put the cross into the box which led to the winning goal, in his post-match interview.

Parkinson told the Wrexham club website : “I said to the lads that if they go to a back four, then Cameron would be a centre back on the left and up against Barney. I told them give the ball to Barney (Ryan Barnett) because he is tremendous in those situations.
