Horner hints F1 team that could threaten Red Bull after key acquisition
Christian Horner expects McLaren to challenge Red Bull in 2024. Especially after the departure of technical director Rob Marshall from the world champions.
Marshall has played a key role in Red Bull’s success for 17 years and joined McLaren on New Year’s Day after being on garden leave since May. Signing a resurgence at the end of the season with Marshall and McLaren regularly battling for podium places last season, Horner believes McLaren could be the team to challenge Red Bull next season.
Christian Horner believes Red Bull can challenge next season. Rob Marshall joined McLaren in January after 17 years with Red Bull.
Horner: I think McLaren is probably the closest.
“There was a time when they were our closest rivals. They’ve strengthened the squad and Rob [Marshall] will be an asset, but it’s not just about one man.
“There are 700 to 800 people in an F1 team and the whole team has to stick together. “Lando (Norris) and Oscar (Piastri) — they were very impressive as rookies — could be a factor next year.”
