Phil Taylor has lost his final-ever competitive darts match after blowing a 9-6 lead at the World Seniors Darts Champion of Champions tournament.

The Power, 63, has stumbled at the first hurdle against Martin Adams in Blackpool on Saturday afternoon. Taylor had put on a show for those in attendance, and he was even leading 9-6, needing one more set to make it into the semi-finals.

However, Adams battled back in the contest, leaving the score level at 9-9. Taylor had the chance to take the tie, and Taylor missed a double 19 with Adams taking out double 5 in Taylor’s final-ever competitive match.

The darts sensation was only 16 when he wowed Alexandra Palace at the World Darts Championship (WDC), despite a final loss to Luke Humphries.

The Nuke will continue playing against seven of the best dart players in the world — Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross and Peter Wright — in a mini-tournament in a different city every Thursday until the final in May.
