Christian Horner has paid tribute to his “phenomenal” Red Bull Racing team-mates after learning he will receive a CBE.
Team boss Horner has been named in the 2024 New Year’s Honors List. This is the second listing of Charles III’s reign and the first since his official accession to the throne last May.
Horner, 50, led the team to success and has since the energy drink company acquired him prior to the 2005 season. He was awarded an OBE in 2013 after leading Red Bull to four consecutive championships.
According to the latest New Year’s honors list, he is a CBE, a rank below knighthood in the British honors system. Horner dedicated it to his staff.
He said: “Receiving the OBE 10 years ago was an unexpected gift” and added: “I am truly grateful and honored to receive my second award, the CBE. “It’s an honor to lead and work with a phenomenal team like Oracle Red Bull Racing and to work in an industry that makes such a huge contribution to the UK economy. I’m proud of our recent achievements with Red Bull, Formula 1 and many more. We look forward to this effort as we pioneer a wide range of cutting-edge technologies. “It’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts.”
