PGA Tour stars share their feelings on Jon Rahm’s move to LIV Golf.
Jon Rahm’s successful move to LIV Golf widened the gap between sports and left a bitter taste in the mouths of his peers in the PGA Tour Player of the Year voting.
Jon Rahm missed out on Scotty Scheffler’s PGA Tour Player of the Year award after his popular LIV Golf.
A worthy winner, Scheffler emphasized consistency throughout the season and became the first player to win back-to-back PGA Tour Player of the Year awards since Tiger Woods in 2006-07. The world No. 1 had his best statistical season since the elder Woods, leading the tour in scoring and scoring in every major category.
During the year, Scheffler enjoyed 18 consecutive starts, with his worst finish being 12th. But he didn’t win like Ram. Rahm, who won the US Players Championship and the Phoenix Open, won four times, including his second major when he won the Masters at Augusta. Looking at Rahm’s record over the past 12 months, one might wonder if the Spaniard has been punished for his controversial move to LIV Golf. Scheffler noted that his consistency earned him the award. “Every vote that your peers give you is very special to me, and to take this trophy home two years in a row is very special,” Scheffler said. “The work I did last year… “I was proud of that sense of stability.”
