The Times’ NFL writer Sam Farmer takes a look at this week’s games. Lines (O/U = Over/Under) according to FanDuel Sportsbook. 10-6 (.625) record last week; Season 153-103 (.598). If we were to use the point spread with Farmer’s predicted points, the record against the spread last week would be 9-6-1 (.600). 122-127-7 (.490) on the season. The TV channel is for the Los Angeles area. Always Pacific. Steelers cornerback Mason Rudolph has performed well since taking over. (Stephen Brasher/AP)
The Ravens are ranked no. 1 blocked, so they will rest their players. The Steelers can run the ball and Mason Rudolph can throw the ball down the field. The Steelers are encouraged, but they need to stay close. Specific playoff and division implications for both teams. Defender C.J. Stroud was a great player for the Texans. It may sound harsh, but Houston is completely confused and the home team is more experienced.
In the unlikely event that Tampa Bay loses, both will have a chance to win the NFC South. The Saints performed well last week thanks to solid defense and Derek Carr’s rushing game.
The Lions won the division and the Vikings are weak but need a lot of help. Something good is happening with the Vikings, but Dan Campbell doesn’t seem like the type to rest a lot of players.
The Buccaneers clinched the NFC South with the win. Carolina still plays hard and their defense is very talented. But there is too much at stake for Tampa Bay. Maybe it’s not nice.
Brown in, Bengal out. Neither player is particularly motivated, but both players are trying to reach their contract goals. The Browns are better and should win this game.
