The McLaren duo surprises Verstappen

When asked who he would pick for his Formula 1 team, reigning world champions McLaren teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were ruled out.

“I’ll take Lando and Oscar,” he told Auto Motor und Sport. “Hence the McLaren connection. I like it so much. “Lando is a little older than Oscar. I think Oscar is a fast starter. He still has a lot to learn, including improving his racing speed. But what I noticed is that he is an intelligent person. He won the race.”

Gil de Ferran’s family have paid tribute to the multiple IndyCar champion and Indianapolis 500 winner, who died late last year. His daughter Anna de Ferran also thanked those who sent messages about her father on social media. “It truly warms my heart to see the words respect, champion, smart, humble, deep connection, and loyalty come up so often,” she wrote.

“My father died exactly as I thought he would when he left us when we were so young. He was driving a race car with my brother. He put us out of our misery and the last thing he did was break my brother’s leg so he could come home with us safely that evening. “This story alone shows the level of thought, care, selflessness and love he puts into everything he does.”

Ferrari has been crash tested, Red Bull has yet to be approved

According to Autosprint, Ferrari has passed the first crash tests for its new chassis, codenamed 676. The same publication reported that Red Bull’s new RB20 was not tested for the first time. Former Ferrari Driver Academy member James Wharton will remain at Prema as the Italian moves from Formula 4 to the European Formula One regional championship. “We have enjoyed a great relationship with James and we look forward to having him with us in 2024,” said team principal Rene Roisin. “He has always fought for wins and podiums in every championship, so we believe he can do the same at FRECA.

“We know this is a very challenging series, but we are confident that together we will do whatever it takes to maximize their potential and have a successful learning experience.”

Comment of the day

Alexander Albon had good results for Williams. But does that mean he deserves the chance to return to Red Bull? I don’t want to see Albon at Red Bull again.

He stated in a recent article that he will do better at Red Bull with the knowledge and experience he currently has. I’m sure that’s true. The same goes for (almost) all other drivers. What he didn’t say was how good it would be. This is a reasonable choice and generally contradicts what Perez claims. Overall, I don’t think Red Bull Albón will make it. . He must feel comfortable in his team.

If he could, he would take it. But I doubt it’s something he’s actively looking for, and I’d rather see him succeed with another team than lose faith in Red Bull.
