World Darts winner Luke Humphreys hit back after Rishi Sunak and chancellor Luke Littler said he would “lead the sport for years to come”.
Humphries, 28, won his first Ally Pally title Wednesday night after knocking off Littler, 16, 7-4 in a mouth-watering battle. The “cool signature” moved to the world world. After the victories in the Grand Double and the Grand Prize for 1 final, they continued a number of winners.
After the final, the prime minister went on Twitter and went to congratulate him on the gambling with his achievements. “Luke, congratulations on your big win tonight,” he said. “What a great final to end a historic championship. I know @lukeh180 and @LukeTheNuke180 will dominate the sport for years to come.”

Humphries thanked Sunak for his message and said it was a “really amazing feeling” after beating Littler to win another major title. Cool Hand Luke had never made it past the World Championship quarter-finals in six tries, but this time he made it all the way, beating Riccardo Pietrecko, Joe Cullen, Dave Chisnall, Scott Williams and Littler. Humphreys replied: “Thank you @RishiSunak for the win. It’s hard to put into words how I feel right now, but I will never forget the truly amazing feeling and the amazing support I received.”

Humphreys started the match brightly, winning the first set and throwing Littler back. But the teenage sensation felt his mojo was up. Humphries took the lead again and Littler won the next three sets to take a 4-2 lead. With the score tied at 2 apiece in the seventh set, Littler missed a crucial dart at doubles to take a 5-2 lead before Humphries won the set and punished his junior opponent 7-4 in the next four. Humphries said in an interview with Sky Sports immediately after the game: “Luke showed tremendous fighting spirit and determination.
