Red Bull chief makes worrying admission over F1 guru Newey

Red Bull boss worried about Formula 1 guru Newey

Red Bull technical director Pierre Vasch has ruled out a replacement for Adrian Newey as the team prepares to defend their title in the 2024 Formula 1 season.
Newey spent almost 18 years at Red Bull, leading the team to six constructors’ championships and seven drivers’ titles. The new dominance of the sport, especially in 2023, is due to the superiority of the car’s design compared to the rest of the grid.
Of course, Max Verstappen has played a key role behind the wheel, but Red Bull has been in a unique position when it comes to car design in recent years. The combination of Max Verstappen (left) and Adrian Newey (right) worked well for Red Bull. And Red Bull technical director Pierre Bauche admitted that replacing Adrian Newey is impossible.
Vache admitted that Newey was not responsible for the overall concept of the car, but the Frenchman admitted that no one would walk in Newey’s shoes if he left.
Newy, an indispensable part of Red Bull
“He’s irreplaceable. You can’t replace him!” Wach told Motorsport.com. “On a day-to-day basis, this is not part of our process. He comes from many different sides and tries to help or challenge us in different aspects of the team: mechanical design, aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics.”
“He doesn’t spend a lot of time for us, so he has to use it as practice,” he added. “It’s more than that… I don’t know the English word. What you’re saying is arguing for a part of something. It’s not understanding the whole concept of the machine being implemented. It’s executing the plan.”
