Tiger Woods’ cryptic 5-word response to his Nike split at the PNC Championship

Woods remained silent and did not respond to the Nike rumors after the first round of the PNC Championship.

Tiger Woods and Nike rumors have dominated the news in recent weeks. The brand’s 27-year relationship with the athlete could end this year.

Earlier this month, a report on the No Laying Up podcast suggested that Woods and Nike may split. Woods has been with Nike since 1996, when he was just 20 years old.

The podcast said this week’s PNC Championship was the last time people saw him wearing red and black Nike gear. Woods was seen this week wearing his usual designer clothes, minus the shoes, but his son Charlie was not wearing Nike. He used Grayson clothes instead. Rumors circulated on social media because Charlie did not wear the brand. After the first round, Woods was asked to comment on his future with the brand. ”
Woods’ relationship with Nike has had its ups and downs over the years, but it has been an important part of his brand. Although the exact details of the contract were not disclosed, the 15-time winner received hundreds of millions of dollars. Woods has adapted to Nike’s changes. Woods left for TaylorMade when the brand stopped making golf clubs in 2016. Could this brand be her next landing spot? Or is Woods getting into the fashion game by creating his own brand?

After a car accident in 2021, Woods stopped wearing Nike shoes and chose FootJoy. When it first happened, it sent shockwaves across the golf course as Woods and the Swoosh walked together.

“Because I have bars, plates and screws in my legs, I needed something different, something that would make me more stable. That’s where we went,” Woods said in April.

If Tiger and Nike part ways, it would be another earthquake in the golf world. He is the face of Nike Golf and losing him would be a disaster. High-profile athletes have rebranded in the past, including Kobe Bryant leaving Adidas to join Nike and Simone Biles leaving Nike to join Athleta. However, it can be different because of the two names that people associate with Nike: Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

Although his reaction was very private, Woods did not say that he was leaving the brand. Time will tell if this is the end of an era. But for now, look no further than PNC Championship Sunday to see him in the red-and-black Nike look one last time.
