Oscar Piastri has praised McLaren’s winning culture in his debut season in Formula 1.
In a breakthrough debut season, Australian driver Oscar Piastri has praised McLaren’s resilient “culture” behind his impressive F1 rookie campaign.
Piastri’s journey away from the Alps amid contractual difficulties was fraught with difficulties, but he won the Qatar Sprint Grand Prix. Reflecting on his first year at McLaren, Piastri continued to appreciate the welcoming environment and the team’s motivation during difficult times. “From the moment I joined the team, the first thing I noticed was that the culture here was great. The team accepted me very well,” said Piastri. Piastre acknowledged the car’s initial performance issues and expressed confidence in McLaren’s ability to turn the tide. “It was good to see the confidence that we could turn the tide. When we first came into the team, we thought we were ready to compete for leadership. All we needed to do this was tools and a vehicle,” he added. Piastri, along with Lando Norris, contributed to McLaren’s podium finish and became a formidable opponent for Red Bull in the second half of the season. The Australian driver attributed McLaren’s success to the harmonious relationships within the team and emphasized the camaraderie and cooperation in the garage. “It’s great to see the connections and relationships between everyone and some of the insiders.
