Sauber plan ‘big ticket’ upgrades this year ahead of crucial 2025 season
Sauber is planning “big” upgrades this year ahead of the crucial 2025 season.
Sauber technical director James Kay said he wants to introduce “several” major upgrade packages for next season.
Key returns to the Swiss team as technical director for the first time since 2012, after being sacked from the same role at McLaren following a disappointing start to the 2023 season. Back at Sauber, Kay said the team had grown significantly in the last 10 years since leaving the Hineville factory.
“I’m excited to be back,” Key told the media, including RaceFans. “There are still many familiar faces. I know this on some level because many of the people I was lucky enough to work with last time at Sauber are still there. “The team has grown, we are still a small team, but we are a very big team with hundreds of people. This can lead to limited parking and office space. This is a common problem if you can find it.
“I think the efficiency of the team is still low. But as your team grows, efficiency begins to decrease. So stepping back is one of the things we need to do a little bit more of.”
