Ecclestone claims Schumacher should have joined Red Bull

According to Ecclestone, Schumacher should have joined Red Bull. Ecclestone said he would like to see Mick Schumacher race for Red Bull. The 93-year-old believes the team’s junior driver program is ideal for Schumacher as the young German looks to make the move to F1.
Schumacher has not been given a permanent place on the grid since Haas stepped down at the end of 2022. He joined Haas after participating in Ferrari’s young driver program as a child.
Since then, the 24-year-old has served as Mercedes’ test and reserve driver and will remain in that role until 2024, along with a return to World Endurance Championship racing. Mick Schumacher was sacked by Haas in 2022 following a costly mistake.
Bernie Ecclestone, 93, has worked with many F1 legends, including Mick’s father Michael Schumacher.
Mick Schumacher is currently enjoying his time as a co-driver for the Mercedes F1 team.
Schumacher’s F1 career
Ecclestone has now revealed that he believes Schumacher’s F1 career could have been different and that he would have had a better chance if he had stayed at Red Bull.
“It would have a great relationship with a team like Red Bull, which has a junior program to help young drivers win. It hurt them a lot,” he told the German news agency.
“If his father had been around, it might have had a very different impact on him.”
