The latest rumor is that LIV golf pro TIGER WOODS is leaving Nike.
Matthew Wolff appears to be the latest player to leave Nike, according to the latest video from the LIV Golf League.
Matthew Wolff appears to be the latest golfer to leave Nike. Wolff, who recently moved to Bubba Watson’s team in the LIV Golf League after a terrible season with Brooks Koepka, also appears to have parted ways with equipment manufacturer TaylorMade.
A video surfaced this week of a golfer focusing on his game during the offseason. The clip, filmed by her coach George Gankas, shows Wolff “winning a medal” in Florida.
Interestingly, Wolf no longer wears Nike gear and uses PING G430s instead of TaylorMade drivers. Wolff also wears FootJoy golf shoes.
As of this writing, Wolff’s social media bio still lists him as part of “Team Nike” and “Team TaylorMade.” If true, parting ways with Nike would make him the latest player to leave the sports giant.
Jason Day, who signed a $100 million Nike contract in 2016, becomes the first high-profile golfer to leave the Swoosh in 2024. Sun now wears Malbon golf clothes. Former no. 1 drew attention for his choice of clothing at the first tournament of the PGA Tour season. As Dey explained why he joined Malbon, he also reflected on his farewell moment at Nike.
“There were times when I would stand on the first tee and look at another golfer wearing the same clothes as me,” he said. Day wasn’t the only PGA Tour player to stand out at The Sentry. Xander Schauffele no longer wears Adidas Golf after signing a contract with Japanese luxury brand Descente. For Wolff, given Watson’s longstanding relationships with OEMs, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think he’ll be using more PING gear in the future.
Elsewhere, Tiger Woods’ future with Nike is still unknown. The company is reportedly considering shutting down its entire golf division.
Woods got a pointed ad from a reporter who asked him about Nike during the PNC Championship last December. \”
But the fact that Day and Wolff have now cut ties with Nike suggests something is going on behind the scenes.
In addition to Woods, prominent promotional ambassadors include Rory McIlroy, Scotty Scheffler, Brooks Koepka and Nelly Korda.
