Tiger Woods hints at secret comeback in Nike Golf split announcement

Tiger Woods has announced he is parting ways with Nike after 27 years, but hinted at when he will next join the PGA Tour in an emotional statement.

 

 

Tiger Woods says he will play in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational next month after the 48-year-old announced his split from Nike.

Woods announced on social media on Monday that his 27-year partnership with Nike will end in 2024. He wrote: “Twenty-seven years ago I was lucky enough to partner with one of the most iconic brands in the world.”

“The days that followed were full of amazing moments and memories that I would cherish forever if I could name them. The passion and vision of [former Nike CEO] Phil Knight brought this collaboration between Nike and Nike Golf together. .” Woods continued. “I’d like to thank him personally, along with the Nike staff and the incredible athletes I’ve had the pleasure of working with.” The announcement marks the end of Woods’ contract, one of the most famous sports partnerships in sports history. But the 82-time PGA Tour winner had some good news for his fans and said he would be returning to Los Angeles soon. “People are asking if there is another chapter. Yes, there will definitely be another chapter. See you in LA! tiger.\”

Woods’ nod in LA appears to confirm his plans to compete at Genesis in February. Woods has been forced into a part-time playing career in recent years after suffering life-threatening injuries in a car crash two days after the 2021 tournament in Los Angeles.
