Toronto Maple Leafs Should Try For Biggest Blockbuster Trade in History

The Toronto Maple Leafs must try to achieve the biggest trade success in their history.

The Toronto Maple Leafs need to emulate the playbook of the Toronto Blue Jays and swing for the fences. In the end, the Jays didn’t land Shohei Ohtani, but their approach was surprising and encouraging. The Toronto Maple Leafs need to do something similar. There is a lot of talk about the Leafs, but most of it is terrible. Chris Tanev is the best name you’ll hear, but he’s 34 and the Leafs’ blue line is pretty outdated when healthy. The Leafs should be interested in finding a struggling “first” defenseman, and while he might be usually unavailable, they should recognize that the Columbus Blue Jackets are interested in shaking things up. They’re terrible, they’re not going anywhere this year, and teams in their position always hear at least one tip about the winning player. The Blue Jackets invested in Johnny Gaudreau and Patrick Laine, but things didn’t work out. He appears to be in the running for another top pick, so the Leafs should look to get the best player possible. Maybe they’ll consider recommending it.
