Updates: Gilmore pops shoulder back in, ‘ready to go’
The team won the NFC East with a 38-10 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, but fans held their breath for the starting cornerback. Stephon Gilmour suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter and appeared in a sling after halftime.
The injury did not appear to be serious, but Gilmour said his shoulder dislocated and was replaced by medical personnel. “It just came out and they took it back,” Gilmore said after the game. “I feel much better now. Luckily, it wasn’t that crazy.”
Coach Mike McCarthy told Gilmore he’s “doing well and ready to go” for next week’s playoff game against the Packers.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity we have,” Gilmore said. 14:55 – Bad news arrived at the last minute for the Dallas Cowboys as Zach Martin got sick when he was originally expected to play. However, the team eventually cut him. He will join Tyler Smith in an inactive position against the Commander. The absence of Smith (foot) and Martin means T.J. Bass and possibly Chuma Edoga are home with Tyler Biadas who will be performing this week despite battling an illness.
But Johnathan Hankins returned to action after recovering from a foot injury, shaking off some pre-playoff rust after missing the last three games and helping shore up Washington’s defense. The Cowboys’ Week 18 inactive list includes Trey Lance (emergency QB), Eric Scott, Noah Igbinogene, Sheldrick Redwine, Junior Fehoko and Eric Scott.
Neither man is ready to play yet, with Collins signed at the weekend and ruled out of football with a season-ending knee injury in December 2022. Instead, the Cowboys decided to keep safety Sheldrick Redwine and linebacker Buddy Johnson off the practice squad this week.
Both are considered to provide depth at their respective positions and take on special team duties. Eight players have been ruled out for Thursday’s game, including guard Tyler Smith, who missed practice this week with a foot injury. Coach Mike McCarthy didn’t rule out the possibility he could play and said he wants to see what he can do in Saturday’s practice before the team heads to Washington. Some players will not practice Thursday due to four ailments, including Dorrance Armstrong (ankle).
9:41 a.m. – The return of La’el Collins and Damian Wilson is followed by the release of wide receiver Martavis Bryant, one of four players removed from the practice squad Thursday. Bryant, a veteran who played in 44 games for the Steelers and Raiders from 2014 to 2018, joined the practice squad on Nov. 8 via a tryout with the Cowboys after being out of football for nearly five seasons. The 6-4 wide receiver, who has 17 career catches, has brought a unique skill set to the practice squad and scouting staff for nearly two months, but the Cowboys didn’t decide on a promotion until game day and now appear to it moves. on.
Bryant was one of two receivers named to the practice squad Thursday, along with Tyrone Billy-Johnson. They still have wide receiver Jalen Cropper and Racey McMath on the practice squad.
10:50 a.m. – The Dallas Cowboys signed rookie defensive lineman William Fehoko Jr. He was added to the 53-man roster from injured reserve and moved rookie running back Deis Vaughn to injured reserve. Fehoko, who has been on IR since Nov. 18, was added to the 53-man roster after his 21-day probationary period expired Wednesday. Fehoko was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has yet to make his NFL debut.
Vaughn, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, is slated to go on IR after playing in seven games his rookie season, including rushing for 2 yards and making a 10-yard reception against Lions on Saturday. 4 p.m. The two-point conversion was heard around the world on Saturday when the Detroit Lions committed an illegal touchdown penalty during the game, giving the Dallas Cowboys their 11th win of the season and a shot at the NFC. Week 18 Est.
This is not unlike what happened in Week 9 between the Cowboys and Eagles. Chuma Edoga was penalized for flagging himself late in the fourth quarter as Dallas attempted a comeback. That’s what the Cowboys learned. What happened in the win against the Lions confirms the belief that this will never happen again in Dallas.
“Look at how we played in Philadelphia,” coach Mike McCarthy said. \”… I want to make a big deal out of communication… but this is an unacceptable mistake. “It’s the longest transition to get to the goal line, so that’s always the focus.”
11:45 pm In the locker room after the Cowboys’ 20-19 win over the Detroit Lions, Cowboys guard Tyler Smith told reporters that he tore his plantar fascia and would take pictures on Sunday to determine the severity. Smith is adamant it’s not a long-term problem. But the playoffs and his presence in those games will be a priority next week against Washington. Smith limped off the field early in the third quarter after suffering an injury on Dak Prescott’s deep hit on Brandin Cooks. Smith missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury. 5:45 PM – The Dallas Cowboys offensive line had a great performance against the Detroit Lions. Tyron Smith, listed as questionable with a back injury after the Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins, was active and was ruled out in Week 17. That leaves the Cowboys with a full lineup of offensive linemen for the seventh time in the last eight games, but without a key player in their running back corps. Rico Dowdle was ruled out with an ankle problem.
Dowdle is expected to line up Johnathan Hankins against the Lions, with the latter still recovering from a sprain, but rookie midfielder Dace Vaughan has been included in Saturday’s squad in Dowdle’s absence. The Cowboys’ remaining inactive players include Matt Waletzko, Eric Scott, Noah Igbinogene, Asim Richards and Trey Lance, with Lance serving as the backup quarterback.
11:21 a.m. – The Cowboys add depth at linebacker for Saturday’s game against the Lions, bringing back Buddy Johnson from the practice squad. Johnson (6-2, 240) joined the Cowboys’ practice squad in October. Over the past two seasons, he has played in four games for Chicago, San Francisco, Houston and Pittsburgh. The Cowboys recently waived veteran Rahsaan Evans this week and are thin at the position, including Damon Clark, Marquez Bell, Tyrus Wheat and tight end Micah Parsons.
The Cowboys also selected DT Carl Davis with the third pick. He provides depth in the middle of the defense with Jonathan Hankins missing another game.
