I have some feelings about the Tiger Woods-Nike breakup

I have a feeling about the Tiger Woods and Nike feud

It’s just plain old endorsement of a rich athlete. So why do I feel such loss? I’m ready to say there’s nothing on earth to believe in, but I feel a lot more comfortable saying that now that Tiger Woods won’t be wearing the red Nike jersey on Sundays.

Woods announced on Twitter Monday that his 27-year relationship with the Oregon company has ended. He expressed his gratitude for being one of Nike’s top athletes and announced to the world that a “new chapter” was beginning.

Whatever his next venture, I think he’ll do a better job than Nike can do now. But as most of my youth fades into the abyss, I will still feel a little depressed.

Because Michael Jordan is so famous, I never associated him with the Nike swoosh. The Jumpman logo has been his personal trademark since the late 1980s. An old commercial from V.O. I have an “Air Jordan by Nike” autograph. LeBron James may have signed a lifetime contract with Nike, but Nike is also his own empire. Woods and the club fit like a hand in his golf glove. He has worn custom Nike logos on his hats in recent years, but won his last Masters Championship in 2019 wearing the logo on a black hat and red shirt. His relationship with Nike is like the old “Like a Rock” song with Chaos Man, along with Allstate and Chevrolet.

I never imagined the day would come when Woods would trade a golf club for something other than a chest shot. He concluded by saying, “See you in LA.” That means the new look will be unveiled at the Genesis Invitational Woods in early February.

Divorce is part of life. Gerry and Roman’s torrid but loving relationship ended with an inheritance. Cardi B and Offset are patching things up again, and of course, one of the most unfortunate breakups of all time is Jordan and Charles Barkley’s relationship. The public shouldn’t be interested in people’s personal relationships, but who doesn’t support love? Who doesn’t at least support consistency? Some people and things feel like they mean something to each other. That’s why the Abbott Elementary School writers don’t go beyond the romance between Gregory and Janine. It feels right, and viewers will have to work harder to redeem that feeling. Like Nike and Tiger Woods, they should be together forever. From the audience’s perspective, the chemistry between the two was perfect. They highlighted each other even more and looked cute, like a couple in a Christmas card.

After living together for almost 30 years, they decided to leave and go their separate ways. The rest of us looked out the window and shook our heads, wondering if there really was any love for life.
