Hole 73: Chris Kirk wins The Sentry, Rory McIlroy takes another round at LIV Golf More Golf News
Welcome to Hole 73. We’ll take a weekly look at the world of golf, whether you’re off the course or playing on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LIV Golf, LPGA Tour and more. We often look back at the past week and take a quick look at what lies ahead. But more importantly, let’s take a look at what golf fans need to know. First, we made sure our old friend Rory McIlroy, who just missed Kapalua, had a great start to the year.
Since the beginning of the golf world, there have been few detractors of LIV Golf like Rory McIlroy. He was such an ardent supporter of the PGA Tour that he became a scapegoat. This situation was further strengthened when commissioner Jay Monahan announced an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to generate cash flow for the tournament. Monahan said by proxy that McIlroy previously disliked him. Supporters of LIV Golf, for example, were just as ready to call McIlroy a hypocrite as members of LIV Golf. Moreover, the world’s second-ranked golfer was not in a good mood. But now the new PGA Tour season is underway and McIlroy has remained silent on the mat.
