CLEVELAND BROWNS INJURIES UPDATE
Brown’s injury: We get some good news at the end of the list. Also add PS protection
Bringing back Grant Delpit would be a huge deal for the middle of the Browns defense heading into the playoffs.
Like almost every day, we continue to write about the Cleveland Browns losing another player to injury. This season has been a rare reason for the Browns. Through it all, Cleveland persevered and earned the first wild card spot and now prepares to face the Houston Texans on Saturday.
Tuesday’s injury report also raises concerns about Brown’s injury, with 10 players missing the first practice of the playoffs. Good news arrived on Wednesday.
The team designated safety Grant Delpitt back from injured reserve and also announced the addition of CB Calon Barnes to the practice squad.
Our s. I drafted Grant Delpitt off the injured reserve. CB Kalon Barnes was also signed to the practice squad.
Delpit last played on Dec. 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was injured in a collision with teammate Myles Garrett.
With Rodney McLeod and Anthony Walker ruled out for the year, the return of Delpit and the hope that Juan Thornhill can play this week will give DC Jim Schwartz some flexibility in the middle of the defence. D’Anthony Bell and Ronnie Hickman have performed well in place of the three veterans, but depth is important in the postseason.
Barnes was drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in two games and had just nine special teams snaps during that span. The Browns visited CB Herb Miller on Tuesday, but signed Barnes this week. Cleveland must activate Delpit from injured reserve and remove someone from the 53-man roster for Saturday’s game against the Texans.
How much of an impact do you think Delpit can have on the Browns defense?
