Tiger Woods ends 27-year relationship with Nike, thanks to founder Phil Knight
A constant in men’s golf’s battle for apparel and brand recognition over the past 25 years is megastar Tiger Woods’ longstanding relationship with Nike.
Everything will end. Woods took to social media Monday morning to announce the end of his 27-year relationship with Nike, thanking company founder Phil Knight and hinting at a possible announcement in Los Angeles.
“I was fortunate to partner with one of the most iconic brands in the world 27 years ago,” Woods said in a statement Monday. “The days that followed were filled with truly amazing moments and memories. If I could put a name to it, it would go on forever. Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought together the collaboration between Nike and Nike Golf. “I would like to thank him personally.” I am excited to work with Nike and great athletes. People ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will definitely be another chapter. See you in LA!”
What Nike Said About Tiger Woods Split?
Woods did not commit to a possible split with the brand in mid-December, answering a few questions at the recent PNC Championship press conference, saying, “I still wear their products.” Nike confirmed the news via a post on their Instagram account.
