Ferrari is to fire its former strategy chief.

Inaki Rueda will leave the Formula 1 team before the 2024 season, according to Corriere dello Sport. Rueda led Ferrari’s strategic team for two years before being replaced by Ravin Jain last season.

Rueda took over the role at Maranello last year, but is now set to step away from the F1 team for good. However, he maintains a good relationship with the iconic Italian brand and could take up a role elsewhere in the company. Ferrari’s strategic decisions have been under close scrutiny for some time.

Last year, questions were raised about decision-making in Abu Dhabi and the United States. However, as Ferrari was the only team other than Red Bull to win the 2023 F1 Grand Prix, a strategic line was created to maintain competitiveness.

“If 80 people come, half of them will be replaced.”

Ferrari team principal Frédéric Wasser recently confirmed that 80 new employees will join the F1 team. But 40 of them will replace mass migration.

Among them, the engineer Eric Meignan went to Renault. Specifically, Laurent Mequis, whom Wasser called “the pillar of Ferrari”, has now officially left his position as head coach of the AlphaTauri team.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are in the second year of Wasser’s reign and as he continues to rebuild Ferrari, the hope is that they can win races and challenge for the championship again.
