Tiger Woods remains tight-lipped about the future of his Nike contract

Orlando, Florida — There are a lot of rumors in the golf world these days. Players move from one round to another. Billion dollar investments. Mergers and acquisitions. We’re working towards a window of time until December when many of our gear and sponsorship deals expire.
Most golf sponsorship contracts are for 12-month terms, starting in January. This is the accounting budget from December 1 to December 31. Some deals are good for several years, but most end at the end of the year. So the next time you see a lot of benefits, early January may be when their sponsorship changes. Maybe the same goes for Tiger Woods.
A Nike athlete for nearly three decades, Woods has signed several contract extensions over the years. He kept his swoosh on his chest, the front of his cap and generally on his shoes throughout his professional career. He signed his first contract in 1996 and has since signed extensions until the end of each deal, most recently in 2013. At the time, Woods competed wearing a lot of Nike cleats, but the athletic brand discontinued the gear in 2016 .
