Aston Martin signs one of the architects of Red Bull’s pit stops

Aston Martin continues to strengthen its F1 team by adding new staff from rival teams.
This time it is Andor Hegedus, from Red Bull, who will arrive as new senior project designer. The Hungarian engineer has announced through the LinkedIn platform that he has joined Aston Martin starting with the 2024 season.
Hegedus came to F1 in 2011 with the now defunct Marussia, and was then hired by Red Bull, as head of the so-called Pit Gear, where his tasks included \”planning, managing and designing pit stop equipment and pit organization projects,\” it is noted in his resume.

It should be remembered that Red Bull has always won the DHL award, the fastest team in \’pit stop\’ since its establishment in 2018 , an area in which Aston Martin also wants to place itself with the best.
Red Bull had the fastest pit stop in history, with Max Verstappen, in which they needed just 1.82 seconds at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. Only McLaren was able to beat them, by 0.002 seconds, in Qatar last October.
However, Red Bull was still able to win the overall standings again, for the sixth consecutive year, thanks to their consistency throughout the season.
Reunion with Fallows

The 2023 campaign was Hegedus\’ last with Red Bull, before he arrived at Aston Martin to take on a similar role within the Silverstone outfit. \”We\’ll be wearing green in the next chapter. I am very happy to start a new phase as senior project designer at Aston Martin. Thank you very much for the support and messages,\” Hegedus said on LinkedIn.

Hegedus has followed in the footsteps of Dan Fallows, who left his position as Head of Aerodynamics at Red Bull to head up the technical director position at Aston Martin in 2022. The team made an obvious leap in quality last year with a very competitive car at all levels and eight podium finishes with Fernando Alonso.
