Daniel Farke throws down the gauntlet to Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter
Talismanic striker Georginio Rutter scored his fifth goal of the season to help Leeds United beat Cardiff City 3-0 last weekend.
It’s been 12 months since Leeds United signed Georginio Luther from Hoffenheim in a major deal. It’s fair to say the Whites took some time to adjust to the speed and intensity of English football. However, the experienced Frenchman has enjoyed success under Daniel Farque and produced a number of impressive performances in United’s promotion run. His strike partnership with Patrick Bamford is promising until 2024. Both got on the scoresheet as the Whites edged past Cardiff City on Saturday.
Farke is pleased with Rutter’s form but would like to see the 21-year-old improve his skills in the final third. Rutter had nine assists but found the back of the net just five times. His performance against the Blues ended a nine-game goalless streak. “It’s an area of his game where he can improve,” Farke said of Rutter’s scoring. He always looks good whenever he scores. “It’s good for his confidence and the whole team because we’re not just relying on one player’s goals. We share goals so it is difficult for opponents to prepare for us. “I like the fact that we have a lot of players who can score goals, like Joel Pirro, Patrick Bamford, Crisencio Somerville and Daniel James. George scored 5 goals. “Maybe we can get more from the midfield positions. Our defensive players jumped up. Sharing goals is a good thing.”
