Rory McIlroy said his performance at the Dubai Desert Classic was inspired by Tiger Woods after the Northern Irishman defended his title on Sunday.
McIlroy entered the DP World Tour history books by winning his fourth Rolex Series event in the Middle East. The turnaround was remarkable after the Northern Irishman fell 10 behind Cameron Young at half-time.
However, McIlroy had a disappointing performance on Saturday as he finished the third round at 9-under par (63) and was just 2-over par in the final round. He then birdied three of the first nine holes on Sunday to take the lead after a series of mistakes by Young. He then played the final nine games of the tournament.
