JON RAHM MESSAGES NICK DUNLAP AHEAD OF MAKING BIG LIV GOLF DECISION
Jon Rahm sends a message to 20-year-old American Nick Dunlap after becoming the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour since 1991.

Dunlap and Tiger Woods are the only two golfers to win US Amateur, US Junior Amateur and PGA Tour titles.
Rahm, who won the American Express Award in 2018 and 2023, was impressed with what he saw from Dunlap. The LIV Golf League’s latest and greatest acquisition was tweeted shortly after Dunlap missed a 6-foot par on the 72nd hole to take a one-shot lead over Christian Bezuidenhout of South Africa.
Rahm believes Dunlap has the brightest future. Rahm tweeted:
“Great performance by Nick Dunlap, fantastic game, how he handled the pressure and joined an elite group of players to win a PGA Tour event as an amateur! This amazing talent has a bright future! Congratulations.”
Lam, who is hard at work forming a new LIV golf team ahead of the season with less than two weeks left in Mexico City’s Mayakoba, tweeted.
It was revealed that Rahm will be signing with her boyfriend of 19 years, Caleb Surratt. But after watching the PGA Tour action on Sunday night, the Spaniard may have something on his mind as an amateur golfer.
Kieran Vincent is also expected to join Lahm’s squad after qualifying at LIV Golf following a recent promotional event. Last weekend, The Telegraph reported that Rahm was trying to convince European Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hutton to join LIV Golf.
Hutton later discussed this topic. Tommy Fleetwood has reportedly been approached to join LIV Golf but the Brit has rejected the offer.
Rahm’s team is expected to be called Legion XIII. However, this has yet to be confirmed.
Rahm wasn’t the only LIV golf star to congratulate Dunlap, as HyFlyers captain Mickelson was also in attendance. Mickelson, the last amateur to win a PGA Tour event, tweeted:
“A truly impressive performance by Nick Dunlap. Congratulations on a great win. This is just the beginning.”
It remains to be seen what decision Dunlap will make regarding his golf career.
He cannot receive money or FedEx Cup points due to his amateur status. But a win will certainly open many doors for him.
If Dunlap decides to turn pro, he will miss the Open Championship at Royal Troon but will qualify for the U.S. PGA Championship. Dunlap will also earn starting spots in PGA Tour major money events for the remainder of 2024.
He will also be completely exempt from the tournament for two years.
