Coco Gauff claps back at opponent’s husband after Australian Open hat drama
The 19-year-old American tennis star received applause on Monday after the husband of her Australian Open opponent Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine tried to troll her during her quarter-final match against Gauff.
Gauff advanced to the semifinals by defeating Kostyk 7-6 (6), 6-7 (3), 6-2 in a match that lasted more than three hours. Marta Kostyuk’s husband Heorhi wears a hat that says “Shake the Coconut” during his Australian Open quarterfinal match against Coco Gauf.

Koschuk’s husband, Hehe, appeared in court to mock Gauff’s name by wearing a hat with a photo of a split coconut and the words “Shake the Coconut.”
After winning, Gauff posted an Instagram story with the caption “shaking,” which included heart and smiley emojis. “I’m proud of myself,” Kostik said. “Today I won for myself and that’s the most important thing. This is just the beginning of the season. “I’m looking forward to what happens in the future,” he said.
This would be a repeat of September’s US Open final, which Gauff won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. “I really like it. I think it’s really good,” Sabalenka said of the Gauff match. “I really wanted revenge after [the US Open]. It was a great match.”
